Our Mission: To improve people’s lives and support ongoing education through fair financial products and services.

Our Vision: Financial wellbeing for all.

At County Schools Federal Credit Union, our strength comes from our members. As a member-owned financial cooperative, every decision we make is rooted in serving the best interests of the people and communities we support. Volunteering on the Board of Directors is a meaningful opportunity to help shape the future of your credit union while giving back to an organization built on the philosophy of “people helping people.”

We are currently seeking engaged, community-minded members to serve in volunteer leadership roles on our Board of Directors and as Associate Board Members.

The Board of Directors plays a critical role in guiding the credit union’s mission, setting strategic direction, and ensuring the organization remains financially strong, member-focused, and well-positioned for the future. Board members are elected by and represent the membership, helping oversee the long-term success and sustainability of the credit union.

Associate Board Members provide valuable support to the Board while gaining hands-on governance and leadership experience. Associate Board Members participate in discussions, contribute ideas and perspectives, and assist with initiatives that benefit both our members and the broader community. Associate Board Members are non-voting participants who serve alongside the Board of Directors and are often interested in future board service opportunities.

Why Serve?

Serving on the credit union board is an opportunity to make a lasting impact — not only on the organization, but on the financial well-being of fellow members, local families, and the communities we serve.

As a volunteer leader, you will:

  • Help shape the future direction of the credit union

  • Support financial access and opportunities for members

  • Promote the cooperative values that make credit unions unique

  • Gain valuable leadership, governance, and strategic planning experience

  • Collaborate with passionate professionals and community leaders

Who Makes a Good Candidate?

We are looking for individuals who are:

  • Passionate about serving others and giving back to the community

  • Interested in leadership, governance, or professional development

  • Thoughtful, collaborative, and willing to share ideas and perspectives

  • Able to commit time to preparation, meetings, and occasional events

  • Supportive of the credit union mission and cooperative principles

Previous board experience or financial expertise is helpful, but not required. We value diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences that reflect the membership and communities we serve.

Time Commitment

These are unpaid volunteer positions that require an ongoing commitment of time, preparation, and engagement. Typical responsibilities may include:

  • Attendance at regular monthly board meetings, typically held on the last Thursday evening of each month.

  • Participation in annual strategic planning sessions and monthly committee work

  • Reviewing board materials and staying informed on credit union matters

  • Supporting community and member engagement activities throughout the year

  • Collaborating with fellow volunteers, management, and leadership

On average, board and associate board members should expect to dedicate several hours per month, with occasional additional time for planning sessions, educational opportunities, or special events.

All positions are unpaid and volunteer-based, reflecting the cooperative nature of credit unions and our shared commitment to serving one another.
